QECC Help with Learning, etc...

SEN (Special Educational Needs)

There is a special room called the Cheriton Room where you can go to get help with your homework. Some pupils with special needs have a helper in the classroom and their helper sometimes helps other people in the class too. You may be able to borrow an Alpha Smart computer from the Cheriton Room to use in lessons. If you have difficulty reading, and you book in with the teachers, you can take your tests to the Cheriton Room and a teacher will read the test questions to you.

The School Counsellor

The Counsellor also checks to see how you are getting on at school. She gives you the opportunity to discuss anything you want, any worries, concerns, problems or anxieties. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday she is available for interviews. To make an appointment for a confidential interview, call in during the drop in session on Tuesday and Thursday lunch times. She is located in the Penthouse which is right at the top of the school above the Humanities Department.

The School Nurse

The school nurse is Juliet Phillips. She is in school at different times each week but always puts her timetable on the door of her room, which is situated next to the office in the Reception area. Juliet holds health interviews by appointment and also a drop-in to discuss any health concerns you might have. The school nurse is not available for first aid but there are plenty of first-aiders on call every day should you hurt yourself.
